Atto is the story of Gianmarco, Giovanni, Emanuele, and Gian Mario. In 2023, they founded Atto, wines in the making. Wines in the making because wine is something alive, constantly transforming, moving with the rhythms of nature and at the same time with human choices. Our wines are born from the spark between grape variety and producer and from the combination of terroir and production techniques. They are the result of studying traditional practices, respecting the characteristics of the land, and the expertise gained through years of research.
About Us
O u r s t o r y

Today, the goal is to discover and recover native varieties and ancient vineyards to defend the agricultural heritage of a region – the Lake Bolsena area – which has always been ideal for vine cultivation. However, for decades, the preservation of these historic vines has been threatened by the replanting of younger, more productive vines or the introduction of international varieties that are not suited to the terroir.
Historical research and respect for traditional culture and practices are just the starting point for an approach to winemaking that uses innovative techniques and modern expertise.
Atto’s wines are in the making because they are not necessarily tied to a single vineyard or a specific production area: we are always in search of grape varieties and vines that captivate us, to transform them into wines we love to drink.

Atto’s wine cellar is located in the basement of a building constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, in the central square of Montefiascone, overlooking the “fosso” area. Decades ago, this area was home to several cellars where small winemakers and farmers produced and sold their wines in the typical fiaschi (flasks), immortalized in vintage photos that occasionally appear on the walls of old bars in the area. It was a true winemaking district before its time, and we aim to carry on that legacy by building the home for our wines.
The building was bombed during World War II and underwent several reconstructions, eventually taking on its current form about fifteen years ago. The cellar extends for approximately 60 meters in length, partly above ground and partly underground, carved into tuff rock. This structure is ideal for winemaking: throughout the year, it is shielded from direct sunlight, and inside, the temperature remains cool and stable with high humidity levels.
Like the wines that are born and mature here, our cellar is a tribute to a winemaking tradition that, for many, has been lost. This is precisely why we not only seek to revive it but also make it current and more alive than ever.
